We dove Buddy Reef, Bari, Front Porch, Karpata, Ol Blue, Oil Slick, Angel City, Margate Bay, Salt Pier and maybe one or two others that aren't coming to mind. There were no bad sites, but we found we enjoyed Bari, Buddy and Karpata as our favorites. We did each of them several times.

Salt pier did not seem worth the effort and $$, imho. A lot of rubble and the pilings were not that productive or overgrown with lifeforms. $25 is not that much, but with all the free diving available, it is not a dive I would plan to repeat. We saw some nice stuff, lots of eels, etc, but nothing that one could not find other spots. It was where I found my 1st slender filefish so that is a nice memory.

I also dove the east side with Larry. He certainly delivered on his promise of large fish, large turtles and rays (spotted and sting). The visibility was less than the west side and while we saw the species listed above, in general the overall fish diversity seemed lower than on the west side reefs. The blue hole was a lot of fun, with the large tarpons, green morays and sea turtles, and all the sea fans surrounding the hole itself. Again, a fun way to spend a morning, but not an adventure that I feel the need to repeat any time soon. The west side diving is just so great, why go anywhere else.

The last day we visited the donkey sanctuary and the national park at the north end. My wife and I had a lot of fun feeding the donkeys--the enclosed feeding areas (for the people) scattered across the sanctuary were a good idea and lots of fun to stand in and have some breathing room.

Whoever is responsible for the museum displays at the park entrance did an excellent job. Lots of very interesting history, biology and geology presented in a very engaging way.

Great report BG! I have to disagree about Salt Pier though...it is one of my favorite dives. My first dive there this past trip (I think we were on island a good deal of the same time), there was a current, lots of folks in the water and poor viz and it was hard to relax but the second dive I did there was fantastic. There was a large school of barracuda, schools of the usual characters like goatfish; there were octopus, scorpion fish, large groupers and I hovered with a couple of tarpon for at least five minutes, and ended up coming out in a huge bait ball which swirled around me at the end of the dive.
So, I'd recommend it to everyone. Any given dive is different, it's all in the timing and where you're looking I think! :-)

Salt pier is one of my absolute favourites as well. Eagle Rays, Tarpon, Angels, great light through the pilings. Oh and a frogfish in a discarded shoe. These dives including Larry's Wild Side are a new experience of things other that are free (Larry is still on to do list and finally this next trip this be a constant must do) - don't let the additional costs blinker you. How much have you paid to be here, why miss the best. Town Pier just do it, you will be amazed if you like to see beautiful things.
