We will be arriving in Bonaire on Dec. 3/06, I hope the diving is as good as the hype on this chat line , accomodations are at the Divi. We are going for the diving were we stay is secondary, I figure with 4 dives a day we won't spend much time at the hotel. Curious about the Casino any comments?

Roy

I can assure you Roy that most BT'ers aren't putting out hype - they calls em likes they sees em and to most of us the diving on Bonaire is the best in the world. I guess it depends on how each individual defines "good." If you define good as seeing sharks every day well...... I'm sure you get my drift. Bonaire is macro land - the big stuff is there but you're probably not gonna see it every day. As for the casino, its small of course but fun to do once in a while. Have great trip!

Roy,

The odds at the Casino are definitely not what you have in the States. As they say "play only what you are willing to loose for entertainment."

You can not go slow enough on Bonaire to take in all the pleasures of a dive. There are times my wife and I cover less than 200 feet in a 90 minute dive. Enjoy your trip. We will be in the ocean with you as we are heading to the airport tonight and Bonaire tomorrow.

I stayed at the Divi the first time I went to Bonaire. It's a nice place and I've heard it has been upgraded since the last time I was there. The Casino is close, not much of a walk.

It was very small the last time I was there. As mentioned, don't expect to leave there as a winner.

The diving is top rate. Expect to leave Bonaire as a winner from the diving point of view. I really can't say there is a bad dive on the Island, just some better than others.

Look for turtles and squid as the largest critters. I have also seen dolphin. I don't every remember seeing sharks. Bonaire is also the only place I have ever found a seahorse on my own.

So look more for the small stuff and you will have a great time.

We saw a Nurse Shark in September, but that was on the East Side diving with Wild Larry. That's the only shark I've ever seen in 8 trips to Bonaire.

Roy, have a great time. I don't know about the casino but the diving will make you forget about any loss you may incur.
