"Next Week". What does that bring to mind? I've been saying "next week" a lot over that last few days. Its a phrase that I have never been able to use on vacation before - or at least not in this context.

Normally, on this evening we would be contemplating tomorrow's trip home. We would be making sure everything is laid out to dry, pre-packing things we won't need tomorrow morning, and in general reminiscing about the week. We would be going over all the dives we made and the ones we wish we would have done again. We would talk about the places we ate and the ones we wish we would've gone back to.

At this point in our normal vacation, "Next Week" would not have a very good connotation. "Next Week" would mean being back to work, going through the daily grind, and starting to think about when we would be able make another trip to Bonaire. Usually, "Next Week" is a place and time that we pretty much wished would not ever come. We always hoped that it would remain perpetually "This Week".......

However...... since this is a two week vacation, "Next Week" means that we are still on Bonaire. We actually CAN make all those dives again and visit all of our favorite eating places. Right now, "Next Week" is an ally! It is a friend who will allow us to more fully enjoy a wonderful vacation. In a sense, "Next Week" will remain "This Week". We have one more week until "Next Week" becomes our nemesis.

And unfortunately, "Next Week" will eventually rear its ugly head. But until then, we will embrace "Next Week" and make sure we maximize its full potential.

Today's dives included Margate Bay, Jeff Davis, and Karpata.

Saw a turtle at Margate Bay, as well as a kite boarder. There was actually only one and he remained well to the south - Kudos to him. Also at Margate were a couple of barracuda and a lot of schoolmasters. And yes.... the whole staring thing is starting to freak me out. Leslie actually took a picture of one as he was staring at me. The picture tends to make it look as though it was staring at the camera - but it was really staring at me....

Jeff Davis is a much easier entry than it looks. We just walked down some stone "steps" along the cliff, and waded in at a sandy area. It is a very nice dive - lots of antler coral with tons of small sea life. Could spend an entire dive just in the antler coral. Maybe I'll do that next week!

Also at Jeff Davis, we saw a couple of those midnight parrot fish - big boys....

Karpata. I love that dive. There has to be seahorses there, but I'll be darn if I can find any. But I sure have fun looking.

After Karpata, we stopped at our favorite hang out - The Rose Inn in Rincon. Great place to have a beer, listen to some music, and meet some local folks. A group of us "adopted" the place a few years ago as our "official" hangout (whatever that means). We keep going back because our picture is on the wall :-)

18 dives done - 18 more to go. Water is warm, visibility is great, and we still have all "Next Week" to enjoy.

Thanks for reading and have a good weekend.

Dave & Leslie.

As I read this magnificent writing I am sitting in a motel in Chicago waiting for morning to come. Then it is in a big pressurized steel tube for a 6+ hr trip, but the outcome is being on the island with friends (hopefully we can put up with one another for a whole week). And our next week will just be starting. Ice down the Brights boss we are on our way!!!!!!!!

"Then it is in a big pressurized steel tube for a 6+ hr trip,"

I know I'm being picky, Jay, but if that tube is made of steel you better hope it's a submarine! And if that sub can get to Bonaire in 6+ hrs, you will be very rich very soon! Sorry, I couldn't resist.:-) Just shoot me.
