As usual we had an awesome time in Bonaire. We were fortunate enough to go for two weeks this time and can’t wait to go back there again!

Travel: We used Air Jamaica both ways. We made it through all customs and checkpoints without any problems at all. On the way home we had a three-hour delay in Montego Bay. We had anticipated there might be problems due to AJ’s troubles, so we were prepared for anything. We decided to eat ice cream and shop and considered us lucky that it was just a three-hour delay. Air Jamaica is definitely our favorite way of getting to Bonaire because it gets you there in time to enjoy some of the day that you arrive and when you leave, you get to enjoy most of the day before you have to leave! I sure do hope that they work out their problems!!!

Restaurants:
I find all the restaurants in Bonaire to be incredibly good. As I have said before, I have never had a bad meal in Bonaire.

Pasa Bon Pizza: It is a really nice pizza place just to the north of town on the main road. There is a nice dining area there with a bar. The pizzas are really, really good!!! We had the special Mexican pizza that was wicked good!! Pasa Bon Pizza is open till eleven at night so it is another good place to eat for those late night arrivals!

Bo Bo Jans: On our last trip we discovered where BoBo Jans was and that we could walk to it! It is only open on the weekends but it has excellent food for little dollars. We love their marinated steak. It just melts in your mouth but they are noted for their ribs.

Will’s: Will was the owner of the Lighthouse and he is now where the old DiTuin’s was near Cultimara. The presentation was really nice and the food was excellent. I had a broiled lobster and Tom had the Wahoo.

onna and Georgio’s: They specialize in Italian food and Donna is such a gracious hostess. There food is excellent and presented nicely. I had the Dorado special in a really nice sauce that was awesome. Their Tara Mi Sue for dessert is to die for!

Chez Nous: Thanks to Josie making the reservation and picking us up, we had a wonderful four or five course dinner there for a very reasonable price. It is the culinary students who prepare the meal and they do an incredible job!!!!

It Rains Fishes: Located on the waterfront in town. I had the catch of the day in mustard sauce and it just melted in your mouth!!! Extremely good with moderate prices.

City Café: It is located on the waterfront and has very good prices and food. The fried calamari appetizer was awesome there. Our dinner was the special of the day, which was delicious grilled Tuna! They also have a happy hour at sunset time until 6:30 and if you like the game of darts, they have a dart tournament every other Sunday night. We play in a dart league so we decided to give it a try. I didn’t do so well but my husband came in second!! He won a $25.00 gift certificate to City and a bottle of wine!!! It was a lot of fun and got to meet some great folks!

Casablanca: It was excellent with moderate prices and it was located just before town and only a few houses down from the apartment that we stayed at! Instead of our usual mixed grilled platter, we decided to have the filet mignon and we were not disappointed!!! It melted in your mouth!! They have outside dining as well as an air-conditioned room.

Gibi’s: We made it to Gibi’s the both Tuesdays that we were there thanks to Renee the first week and Cynde the second week giving us rides. It is so much fun meeting everyone from BT. I am even starting to know a lot of people before I even get there now which is even more fun! I am beginning to think that I have more friends in Bonaire than I do at home. The food is delicious there, especially the goat stew. He also had some Carmel flan and it was yummy!!!! If you are looking for a place with an island flavor and very inexpensive, Gibi’s is the place!

Capriccio’s: I had incredibly good lobster pasta. It is a very nice and well-run Italian restaurant. It is one of the more expensive dinners.

Apartment: We rented a cute little apartment located between the Divi and town. It was a great location and the yard was really nice with a great shaded porch! We bring a hammock and I enjoyed having my siesta in it every afternoon. There were lots of birds, including the Lora, and little lizards in the yard to keep us entertained.

We did our shopping at Cultimara as usual for our snack and breakfast foods. I had to make sure I had plenty of Lovers ice cream stocked up! :-)

We also went to Michaels Gaynor’s Chat and Browse. He is such a sweetheart!!! He will help you out any way he can! He has quite a nice little gift shop with some of Linda’s and Jan’s art, as well as others, hanging on the walls. He also has Internet service and cell phone rentals. He made our cell phone rental a breeze. We also wanted a Bonaire Flag and Michael made sure we had one before we left!!

We got the new Fishes of the Caribbean and adjacent waters enhanced third edition by Reef net!!!! I think it was around $70 and worth every penny!!! It is awesome!!!!! The dive shops on Bonaire are now carrying it and I highly recommend it if you are in to fish ID and I recommend the one with the video. It is just unbelievable!!!! It doesn’t just show you one picture of a fish, it shows you all phases of the fish and you can search by family or features. You can create a certain group of fish to study if you are going to a certain area. I still don’t know everything I can do with this DVD!

I was bummed that I couldn’t make it to Jan Huckaby’s open house for her artwork on the usual Friday evening. Jan was nice enough to pick me up so I could see her work. I love Jan’s art and I always bring home some prints to add to the collection!

Cinnamon Art Gallery: I was fortunate to be there for an open house. It was beautiful African art. It is also where I got to visit with Linda Richter. The gallery is very nicely presented.
