Some of the dive sites were: Capt. Don's Reef, Ol'Blue, South Bay, Hidden Beach (w/Debbie & Gregg), Andrea I, 1000 steps & small wall. Les particularly enjoyed the Hidden Beach dive as there were soft corals which he had not seen much of elsewhere. He also enjoyed 1000 steps. He very much wanted to dive with Larry (Larry's Wild Side) but ran out of time (added to the "to-do" list for next year).

CAVE/SNORKEL ADVENTURE
This was a fun day & quite an experience for both of us. The first cave we entered was by ladder & was a dry cave. The temp must have been 110oF
Entry was by ladder

Dry cave:

The second cave was the "wet" cave entry by rope:

this was quite an experience. After climbing down the rope (and hanging on for dear life) we had to slide/shimmy our way down to the snorkel area where we snorkeled in such a quiet, peaceful (dark) area of the cave. When we turned off our dive lights you couldn't see your finger in front of you! About the only living creatures in the water were shrimp. Fins are not permitted in the cave so as not to damage the coral.

exit was also by rope - our guide was wonderful and furnished the rope!

My post #153 was a duplicate! Thought it didn't work - so much for thinking!

Well after doing this report & going through all the pic's I now have SEVERE PBD!
Everyone on this board has been great - there isn't anywhere else one can get such a wealth of information at your fingertips. Bonaire is a very special place & all of you are very special too.
Thank you Freddie for your help before our trip and with posting pic's, etc. (So how about meeting for a drink & swapping pic's)?
It was fun meeting at Gibi's & getting our very own "Bonaire Talkers" Buttons.
Debbie, Gregg & Brandon - it was so nice meeting & spending time with you - we had a ball. So maybe next year we'll get to bring the Amstel Brights to the airport?
LOL,
Judy & Les

Wally & Eva,
We did the trip from the Plaza. There are only a few guides who do this trip as they are specially trained in cave exploration, EMT, etc. The trips were done on Mon., Wed. & Friday's & started at 1:30PM & lasted about 3 1/2 hrs. You can try this e-mail address: info@tropicaltravelbonaire.com
This was a great trip! Want to see your pic's when you get back - have a wonderful time.

Oh Wally & Eva
DON'T wear good shorts on this trip! Also, we used shorties for the snorkel part.

I'm already digging around in my old climbing bag for rope, biners and jumar ascenders. Based on the pics of their gear and the fact that I have (literally) tons of climbing gear I will not ever use again for it's intended use... there may be a trading opportunity here.
I gave up technical ice in 89, high alpine in 93 and rock in 96. Now I just float and sink and float some more.

Hi Judy,

I love the picture of Gregg and my son, Brandon diving. We showed Brandon it and he was happy you posted it on here! Could you please send me a copy of that picture by email? :-) We would love to have that one of father and son framed as we don't have any of them diving together yet! Thanks for an enjoyable trip report, Brandon wanted to do the cave snorkeling too, but it sure looks like it was a lot of work! Debbie

Judy,

My apologies for posting nothing of my trip so far. Had some family issues to deal with upon return and have hardly touched the PC. I have several pictures to post and will make a promise to do so shortly. I owe at least that after Les saved me from a night dive of total darkness by preparing better than I with a spare light.

I could drop a weight with all the lights I take on a night dive, and I use wiener lights.
