Weather was wonderful during the week. Advantage to the wind change toward the north is that the sea is calm. Disadvantages are spotty windsurfing and more no-seeums than usual. The mosquito problem, mentioned frequently here, was not noticeable at Belmar. Better put dope on your legs when eating out, however.

Outstanding meal at Mai Mai, along with topflight service. Casablanca also very good. Rains Fishes OK. Croccantino got a C-: forgot one entree, didn't charge for another because the veal was so tough, and was disappointingly slow. Rendezvous (great tapas) was excellent and brought us back for a second night. Finally, don't miss Chinese takeout from China Nobo--terrific and inexpensive.

Air Jamaica is bad, bad, bad. Late flights, cancellations, and seats that shut off circulation in the legs because of flat cushions. There has to be a better way to get down there from DC, but, after 10 years of trying, I've yet to discover it.

Belmar is terrific. Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful apartments, and a tolerable dive off the resort pier. The dive shop is well run--a branch of Buddy's, and Ericka gives topnotch service.

Great dive sites are Oil Slick Leap (a ladder is now in place so leaping isn't necessary), Witches Hut (used to be Webber's Glory) and, of course, Lake, Karpata and Ole Blue.

Sorry about no photos. My son, the photographer, will be posting our share.

Welcome back to the board, Alan. Thank you for your report, too. Definitely sounds as tho you had a great time on Bonaire. Sorry to hear about AJ...we have loved them for years now...I hope they can get it all back together soon...for our sakes and theirs.

Can't wait to see some photos once your son helps you out and posts them here for us to drool over! Carole

No, Joe. AJ flies only out of BWI in the DC area.

They held our connecting flight for us in Montego, so we didn't suffer much (except for the lousy seats and snacks). However, flights to Atlanta were cancelled on Sunday, and, I understand, to other destinations on Saturday. I was told that the FAA put safety restrictions on a sizable portion of their fleet, and this resulted in a lot of schedule changes. (Our flight out of Flamingo, for example, was supposed to be non-stop and, instead, stopped at Curacao.) Those holding tickets on AJ should, at least, reconfirm.

Great Report Alan. Glad to hear China Noba is still open. We truly loved the food. Great price and yummy food.

Air Jamaica has gotten really bad, so much so that the Jamaican government has physically taken over the company and is trying to find ways to bring it back to standards of yesteryear.
Sorry state
