Alas, the crying is finally over, and I think I figured out the photo thing so here goes...hopefully I can get all my photos on here at once, if not then I'll just post them one after another.....sigh...where to start...

It seems like yesterday that I was gloating to everyone that we were off to Bonaire...happy faces everywhere :-(

Anyways, I already went over the Sheraton Dallas fiasco, so I'll start from when we got to Bonaire. After numerous delays in San Juan, we arrived late Friday (4th) and went to get our truck rental (National Alamo). To start, American Airlines was great the whole trip....compared to our Banana Republic monopoly (Air Canada) AA was a joy...no lost luggage, freindly staff and actual leg room....nuf said.....National Alamo was great as well, the truck was new, clean and the attendant was great. John and Joe got snagged up, as their truck was supposed to be there but wasn't....They stayed at Lions Dive, which has been recently taken over by Buddy Dive....from what we saw, it's a good place to stay.....again, Sheryl and I stayed at the Sand Dollar, which is nice but Mango's has been sold and was closed for renovations. Anyway, we droped J&J off and crashed for the night....very tiring day.

Saturday
We woke to a nice day and finally saw what Bonaire had to offer....this is a photo from the Sand Dollar 1. I had my orientation at Bonaire Dive and Adventure, right at the Sand Dollar...the dive masters are great, the boats are relatively small (less divers per trip) and the prices are comperable...my orientation dive was right there on Bari Reef...wow what great way to get orientated. I can't believe how great the diving was. We hooked up wtih J&J later that day, and had dinner at Richard's....good steak and seafood, but quite pricy. That is where I really got aquainted with my good friends the mosquitoes! They have a particularly good taste for Canadian, and as I feased on steak and Lobster, my legs provided a veritable banquet for my new mossie friends. I should note that I have a particulaly bad reaction to carribean mosquito bites, so by the end of the trip, some people didn't even want to serve me for fear of getting whatever I had :-)
Sunday - T minus two days to Thong Tuesday (TT). As everyone knew, Sunday was special because it was Superbowl Sunday!!!! Actually, few people knew (I even almost forgot, such is the relaxation of the place) and even fewer cared, except for the Americans and a few crazy Canuckleheads (CC)like me. Anyway, we found a place that was advertising the Superbowl on the beack on a big screen projector. Imagine our excitement when we arrived early to get the best seats when we saw this 2. The drinks were two for one and the manager was running around all excited because the place was filling up with Americans and the the odd CC 2a. He was really going to make a show of it. They were having some difficulty getting the projection, and it was only after Joe explained that they needed an outsource, such as a VCR to get the image on the big screen (well Duh!). Anyway, they got it up and running with only moments to go before the game started. Well, this is where it got funny....the manager (and everyone else I guess) "assumed" that, since they have been watching footbal all year on NBC (spanish), that NBC would have the SB on. Nobody checked what station it would be broadcast on, and imagine the manager's dejection when we informed him that the SB was on Fox. Naturally, they didn't carry the signal, so my last memory of the place was the look on the managers face when we, and all the other Americans and CC who were going to make him and his bar rich, hightailed it for downtown to find the game :-( In the end, we found a bar that had the game on a (very) small screen....the upper floor was packed and we, along with everyone else, enjoyed the game.

Next Thread - Manic Monday

Cameron,

LOVE it so far - can't wait for the next installment.

What an awesome setup that would have been to watch the superbowl on a big screen on the beach. Too bad for everyone involved that it didn't work out.

Especially loving the pictures!

Spamalot is now open in previews on Broadway. I haven't seen a review, but tickets are nearly impossible to get.

Cam, great stuff, I knew you wouldn't let us down. Bummer about the work schedule...I know how that can get. Seb isn't going to have a day off until the 13th or so.
I think the little buggers that were getting your legs were no-see-ums. Little critters about 1/4 the size of a small eyelash. They bite me and BOOM! I welt up like a kid with chicken pox. Nasty little itchy bites. Benadryl helps.
I LOVED the Super Bowl fiasco and am looking forward to more more more.
Yours in thongness,
Mare
