I've posted quite a bunch of stuff on my website from our recent trip to Bonaire: trip reports (in the form of blog entries), photo galleries, links, dive logs, etc. Everything is organized into links here:

http://www.thelaitys.com/trips.html#bonaire04

Here's a quick overview of the trip if you're trying to decide whether to bother reading/looking at our stuff. :-)

- Stayed at Deep Blue View
- Did 25 dives; 8 were boat dives on Klein and the east side
- For first three days, took photos with a Canon Digital Rebel in an Aquatica housing
- After a flood that killed the camera (wah!), rented a Sea and Sea from Fish Eye Photo for the rest of the trip

Aside from lousy camera luck, we LOVED Bonaire! Deep Blue View was wonderful, the diving was fabulous (those little 1-footers make shore diving way different from here in CA), and the weather mostly behaved. It only rained on the first and last days of our trip. :-) Mosquitos were a problem, but oh well!

Oh, and of course, we visited the webcam:

Loved the blog and the pics. :-) Sorry it was so chaotic for you! We also had camera trouble on our trip so I know that awful feeling. Operator error - um, those darn o-rings for us, too. We flooded two strobes and had to rent strobes from Fish Eye Photo (he was actually able to fix one), but thank goodness he came through. A vacation in Bon without u/w photos would be AWFUL!

We went in August and there were no mosquitos and no rain and no problems. By watching things here, I've decided it's definitely summer for our trips.

Enjoyed your report. :-)

Welcome, Anastasia! Thanks for sharing your site with us. I enjoyed reading your Blogs and drooling over your photos, too!

Hope you stay dry out there in LA today....lots of rain out west today, eh? Hope there aren't any slides involved. Had some friends from Glendale...up on Virden Drive in the hills. Nice place.

Thanks again for letting us enjoy your site. Glad you enjoyed Bonaire and all that she has to offer. Ayo. Carole

Loved your Blogs and pics. Since we are headed to Bonaire for Christmas/New Years 2005 I am certainly going to take along some extra bug repellant protection. Wonder if I can get a box of Black Flag bug bombs thru customs.LOL

Hopefully the stores will have some sort of bug spray available.

Suzane

Really enjoyed reading your comprehensive report.
Too bad about the ear problems! Whenever I'm on the island I always stop at either of the 2 Botikas (Pharmacies) & have them make me up "diver drops" which we use prophylactically so we don't develop otitus externa or an inflammation of the outer ear canal. Basically this is just a mixture of white vinegar in an oil base (no alcohol). Coats the outer ear canal, raises the ph level & protects the natural ear wax which prevents the problem. Try it next time!
