Thanks everyone for all the insider information we got from Bonaire talk. After 8 months of reading guidebooks, studying my maps, and lurking on this board I was able to put together a trip that was one of our best vacation adventures to date. We just loved that little island and her charm. Here is how it all unfolded...

A little background on the Huffmans: a family of 3 are we including Scott (Dad,chief guide & trip-planner,rental truck driver), Wendy (Mom,lotion lady, fish and animal lover) Jourdan (13 yr old daughter, swimmer, snorkeler, shopper). We've traveled in the US and Canada, been to the Abacos,
Jamaica, the Florida Keys, Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii. It was fun to compare the snorkeling in all these places, and while they are all unique in some way, we have to agree that Bonaire has the best!

WED OCT 6

The flights down on Air Jamaica from BWI thru Montego Bay went very smoothly. The folks on AJ were very nice and always helpful. We arrived on Bonaire (with all bags, except one small one, I'll explain later)right on time and were pleased to see the smiling face of Joke Blokhuis from Bonaire Partners holding a sign with our name on it.We loved Joke and Bonaire Partners was a great company to deal with. They went out of their way to help us more than once and in more ways than one.The private villa they had for us north of town was awesome!
After getting our rental pick-up truck form Total Car Rental(more on them later, most of it not good)we followed Joke to the villa.I Was very confused initially with the road network but was able to find our way anywhere within a day or so (it pays to study those maps, folks). Our arrival at the villa was a lot of fun. The place was just beautiful with a big pool, verandas with a view of the town, ocean,Klein etc.,marble floors, gardens. We were ready to relax, but ultimately didn't do much relaxing, because we soon found Bonaire had much to offer.
After getting settled we drove back to town to get some supplies and order a carry-ouy pizza from the much acclaimed Pasa Bon Pizza. The Cultimara was an interesting stop and the fish pizza at Pasa Bon sounded unusual. We ended up getting pepperoni, erring on Jourdan's side, but Wendy and I vowed to come back and try the fish
pizza before the week was out.
We had trouble finding our villa in the dark when we drove back up what I soon just called "the hill". After a few tries we finally made the right turns and found our home away from home.
Most memorable quote "We never even saw the water"- Wendy (after finding villa in the dark).

To be continued...
