Late, but not forgotten, part 2... my little world mostly pics (it’s the ‘thousand word’ consolidation – lol) Keeping it simple – I ate when I was hungry, slept when I was tired and snorkeled most of the rest of my visit. Simple -- took the Breakfast Package at the Lion’s Den - $50 US for 7 breakfasts – anything off the menu, and a waiter that made me feel like royalty... Every morning he remembered, without asking, to bring coffee AND another cup of hot water (the coffee’s great but STRONG!) and my orange juice to keep me busy until breakfast came. It always took almost an hour no matter what I ordered and no matter if I was the only customer – gotta’ love that pace! I loved coming ‘home’ after a terrific day of snorkeling or sightseeing: The flowers (bougainville, maybe?) were lovely – both from the outside and inside: The TV was never turned on, nor was the air conditioner. I slept with the screen doors allowing the night breezes in and the mosquitoes out! Occasionally I could hear the ‘whump’ from the surge at the sea wall reminding me that the sea never sleeps. The sunsets were pastel soft – very easy on the eyes: And I was lucky enough to catch a ‘green flash’ one very clear evening. (no pic for that one – it happened so fast, I’m just glad I didn’t blink!) If you noticed the rain washed look of the walks in the sunset pic, yes, it rained quite often during my visit – almost every day we had a shower or 2. However, they were quick to pass and never seemed to disturb my day – if anything, they served as an excuse to nap! Simple -- I lived in my bathing suit 90% of the time, and did the majority of my snorkeling right at the seawall in front of the Sand Dollar – at Bari: This was my 2nd snorkeling vacation ever – though certainly not my last. I loved having immediate access to so many great areas. (When I first snorkeled in the Keys, I had to catch a boat for a 1 hour trip to get to the location, have 1 hour of snorkeling, then a 1 hour trip back – at $30 a pop!) I spent one whole day just getting used to my new equipment – learning to dive underwater (easy with a dry snorkel – but I kept popping back to the surface! – lol) – and enjoying being lifted by the surge and not fighting waves. I snorkeled most of the day - every day I was there – and that’s another posting... More to come...
