Well I promised Jake to have this done last week but go away for 5 days and you end up with enough work to last for a month.
My family spent the week of Thanksgiving at the Habitat. This was the second trip to Bonaire for my wife and I (spent our honeymoon here 18 years ago) and our sons first trip. We had a cottage #26 for a week. Only complaint the water in shower took forever to drain. Otherwise the food was great, as was the service and the pool.
Our son completed his open water certification. Thanks to Juni for his excellent job as Joe’s instructor. Joe completed 13 dives for the week and is now hooked. My wife did a refresher course and had a great time diving. Last time she dove was 18 years ago. Right now I am not a SCUBA diver, I have asthma. I have an appointment with my doctor and hopefully I can change this in the future.
Since my son and wife were bitten by the diving bug we spent most of the time eating at Rum Runners. There were 2 exceptions. Wednesday the 22nd we had dinner at “It Rains Fishes”. The food was awesome! I can not describe the pleasure we had at dining and eating there. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Now about our second night dining (Jake you told me tell about this). Prior to our trip I offered to bring down things from the states for anyone who wanted something. Jake Richter replied that he needed pecans and Clementine oranges. Well we brought them done and on Sunday I phoned Jake and we made the delivery. After some pleasant conversation Jake invited my family to join his family to Thanksgiving dinner and for my son and wife to dive to the webcam on Wednesday.
According to my wife and son the dive to the webcam was great. My son is still telling everyone about the giant lobster he saw. Before dinner on Thursday, Jake, Karen (skipper of Oscarina, please pardon my spelling) and I went fishing for Thanksgiving sushi. No luck we ended up going to the fish market.
Thanksgiving dinner was truly memorable. Not only was the food great (thanks Linda), the company was also great. I hope that we will have a chance meet with everyone again. Thanks Linda, Boz, Yanna, and Jake for letting us be a part of your family for the day. Jake I am still tryong to find that ant killer I told you about look for a package around Christmas.
Other notes: Air Jamaica coming down to Bonaire was great. Beer cold. Going back, major confusion in Montego Bay and the beer was warm.
This was a great trip. We will be back next year Christmas 2001. We have already started the process of the scheduling the trip with our travel agent. Oh, and can I mention a good travel agent? Contact Kim at Caradonna Tours. Kim was able to answer all of my questions and get things done with a short notice.
