I was wondering if anyone knows why STINAPA has not put a ban on, or even discouraged, feeding fish. In our briefings, we’ve been told that we are not allowed to feed the fish, as this is a STINAPA rule – made sense to us.

However, I could not find any specific mention of this on their website, unless it is covered by the Marine Environment Ordinance: Article 2.
2. It is forbidden to engage in activities in the Marine Park which might damage the marine environment and/or the environment and nature of Klein Bonaire.

We don’t feed the fish but every once in awhile one or more will come extremely close and stick with us, and appear to be looking for a treat. This appears to be the same behavior we’ve seen on other islands where a small number of divemasters and/or divers do feed the fish.
