Anyone know of any free services where I can have my Bonaire hospital bill translated from Dutch to English, so that I can file with my health insurance here in the United States?

TANSTAAFL (There Ain't Nothing Such As A Free Lunch - courtesy of Larry Niven, I believe).

Check with your insurance company on this, but based on my experience with "official" documents, they need to be done by a certified translator, meaning the translation is certified as authentic. I recently experienced this with the U.S. Government, where I was told that Dutch language documents had to be translated and certified by the Dutch Embassy nearest to me. I doubt the insurance company will be that strict, but they will certainly want some proof of a valid translation. And that's going to cost you something. Sorry.

If I'm not mistaken, TANSTAAFHL comes from Robert Heilein (and its free hot lunch) :-)

Right you are about Heinlein, but I don't think so about the "hot" part.

What do you know? It has been quite some time since I've read "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress"

Not that it helps you, but before I was discharged I asked for and received a translation of the medical papers I had from my stay at the San Fransico 'Hilton' in Bonaire.

Something to keep in mind if anyone else has need of the hospital...
