Do any of the resorts provide shuttle service to/from the airport? If not, what would be a typical fee from the airport to the Sand Dollar?
Also, how far is the Sand Dollar from downtown?

It is very easy to get a taxi at the airport although I am not sure how much it cost as it is a while since we made the trip, I think about $15. I don't think sand dollar has a shuttle. It is about 5 mins drive from sand$ to town. It is walkable but would take about 20 mins, a bit far in the heat of the day but a lovely evening walk along the sea front.

Dick and Rose, First of all welcome to Bonaire Talk.

These rates are from 2001, but they might give you an idea of what you might expect to pay.

Dick & Rose I believe you will want to rent a vehicle, the vast majority of the diving on Bonaire is shore diving. No waiting for a boat and the hassle of gearing up and going over the side, getting back and your stuff is all wet. Drive to a likely looking place, look knowledgably at the entry point, drink some water and stroll into the sea. It doesn't get much better.

Personally (and after waiting in line in the heat, sun beating down on us, at the airport for almost an hour at AB Carrentals desk this last time, after a LOOOONNNNG travelling day) we'll wait on the renting for a day or so, then make the arrangements. There's an AB desk there at the Habitat; if we can't get any from them we'll rent elsewhere.

Captain Don's has a policy where you take a taxi, and they give the driver a voucher - you don't have to pay for it - if that's included in your package. Perhaps Sand Dollar has a similar policy. Ask them.

Buddy Dive picks you up and drops you off at the airport. It's always nice to come through those doors after clearing customs and see a smiling (usually familiar!) face holding up a sign and realizing that you are now in vacation mode. You are driven to the resort and dropped off right at your room. You can then check in at the front desk and dive shop at your leisure and since Buddy's has their own rental cars, you just pick it up from the front desk whenever it's convenient for you.

We took a taxi from Sand$ to the airport at 4:45 am yesterday morning for $18.00 (+tip).
