As usual go by before you know it! We are on Bonaire twice a year and always like to experience something new. Bonaire has never failed to satisfy in this category.

Week number one was basically "all work" as anyone who owns property & rents knows. From purchasing new furniture and visiting all the furniture stores (rest assured they all know me by now, if not by name, certainly by face), to the multiple visits to Kooeyman, Boomerang, Hi test, the Marine Store etc etc. Places most tourists never set foot in.

The week was filled with screen/carpentry repairs, plumbing & electrical repairs. Setting up wireless internet network and buying, buying & some more buying. For those contemplating the purchase of property , owning is a very different experience (not without it's rewards however)from being on a dive vacation.

After week number one, we then entertained guests who do not dive, snorkel or swim. A problem? no not on Bonaire.

The second week was filled with Carnival, wind sailing, renting a boat & spending some time at Klein, kayaking in the mangroves.
An interesting visit to the Bonaire museum next to Hi Test; a visit to Yenny's and a very interesting presentation by the famous "Poppy" (you know the Bonaire "smile" woman who has worked for over 25 years at the now Cargill salt plant) on all the intricacies which go into the production & manufacture of the Bonaire salt.

Numerous other activities rounded out week 2, with Leo Hoogenboom's presentation on behalf of Sea Turtle Bonaire @ Habitat who by the way did an excellent job & is extremely knowledgeable on anything to do with the turtles as well as diving in general (since he recently circumnavigated around Klein UW). Of course tours of the north & south of the island together with some quiet time at Cai and Lac bay were all on the agenda. No we never did get to hike up to Brandaris. Perhaps next time. ;)
And of course, dining, dining and some more dining. So many great restaurants, so little time.

Week three was finally spent doing what I and so many others love to do on the island. DIVE..
The last dive of the trip is always a pre dawn (since we're on the red eye 24 hrs later) saying goodbye to all our UW friends. Till next time Bonaire!

What...you didn't go to Caribbean Fasteners or PLaya Trading? But it's true...the joys of home ownership on Bonaire outweigh the minuses. Where did you find good furniture? I like City Shop, but I'm not willing to shell out that kind of money until I stop renting out my place. Nice report.

How and where do we arrange that? that would be interesting.

Bea

Vince-
Did you luck upon Poppy? Or did you arrange it? If so can you share how you did.

Much thanks.

A close friend of ours on the island managed to arrange it for our visiting guests.
