This is our third trip to Bonaire.
We bought a timeshare at the Divi on our first trip there. We are snorkelers, not divers.

We took the Delta flight from Boston through Atlanta on Friday(stayed overnight in Atlanta) and arrived Saturday around 3 PM. We returned on the Delta flight from Bonaire to Boston, via Atlanta on Saturday, Feb. 5th. Flights were on time, without problems and comfortable. Although I wish the Delta flight from Boston on Saturday AM, provided a bit more "breathing room"/transfer time. Although we found a great hotel at the airport, it still is a hassle to leave a day early. I'll look into other options that have been recommended on BT for our next trip, which, BTW, will be TWO weeks instead of one. One is just not enough!

Accommodations:
The upgraded Divi studio timeshares were nice, with everything we needed.
We enjoy the breakfast buffet at Calabas and also had breakfast in our rooms a couple of days.

The Saturday night BBQ at Divi (day of our arrival) was a pleasant surprise...good food and we didn't need to venture off the Divi property after a long day.

We rented an SUV (all out of trucks) from ABCar Rental. Great service, picked up at the airport and returned. No complaints about the vehicle.

Visited the donkey sanctuary, which is always fun, drove through Washington Slagbaii Park with some pretty rough roads. We stopped at Boca Slagbaai for a snorkel. We were a bit disappointed... The water was a bit stirred up, not a lot of fish and it is pretty rough.

So, we returned to the Divi for some really great snorkeling. Saw all kinds of fish and squid with easy in and easy out. snorkeled at the Divi at least once every day and each time the water was warm, calm and the snorkeling was great.

Went to Windsock and had a good snorkel there. Saw a great octopus, which my traveling companions watched for quite awhile.

We decided to try a Woodwind sail this time and we're glad we did. Dee and her crew split us into 3 groups and we saw some great coral, turtles and lots of fish. Very enjoyable and well worth it! Great job, Woodwind crew!!!

We had dinners at It Rains Fishes (x2) which were great! Casablanca, was ok, but not terrific. Zee Zicht was good and Paradise Moon had some great Mexican food!

Being at the Divi is perfect for us because it is so convenient to everything...walking distance to town, great snorkeling, great dive shop (which we may take lessons from on our next trip), great staff (Ruby and Oy were particularly helpful), and pretty good restaurant. Chibi Chibi is terrific for lunch with a great view! And, let's not forget the casino. It was great to be able to walk from our room to the casino and play roulette or blackjack for some evening entertainment.

Overall, it was a great trip and the only change we'd make is to stay for two weeks next time and probably not rent a car or only for specific days.

Thank you, Bonaire and Divi!

PS No crime or worries/problems with crime, etc. Felt very safe there.

Thanks Ann..yes, Bonaire sure does have a way of growing on you. For many folks, a 1 week stay turns into two & a two week stay many times turns into three or more! Divi was the first place we ever stayed at many years ago!

We have never had a problem with mosquitos before, but this time there were some that were more annoying than anything else.

There were a few showers, mostly overnight, and one brief one in the morning.

Does anyone know what happened to the huge two story building/restaurant across from City Cafe? It had a thatched roof and was a great restaurant. It's totally gone and it's absence certainly changes the "look" at that corner of town.

I had thought there were plans for condos or a hotel there, but I may be wrong... Maybe Michael or Ruth will pop in to give us the scoop.. It does look terrible...
Mosquitoes were terrible,, I still have bites...

Anne, we were told that the building and I think restaurant was owned by City Cafe. When I asked what was to be done with the property I got at least 3 different replies. All said some commercial use was planned.

Hi,
This is our first time using Bonaire Talk. We've read it many times for advise but never posted anything. We're leaving this Saturday for home and are looking for a good breakfast buffet. We've heard that both Buddy Dive and Divi Flamingo have buffets but how good are they? Can anyone suggest any other spots buffet or not that would be good for a filling breakfast? We're off on the Delta 4:00 pm flight back to the cold of Philadelphia.

Hi:
The buffet, for $14.25 at Divi is great. Pancakes, eggs and omelets are made to order. They also have eggs benedict, hard boiled eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, cereals, yogurt, fruit, juices and plenty of coffee.

Don't know about the other buffets, but I know the Divi's is great and so is the staff. Ask for Ruby. She's great! And, ask if "Seena" (sp?) is working the grill..perfect eggs and omelets!

Does anyone know the price of the breakfast buffet at RumRunners? How does it "stack up" to Divi's?
